    Technical Services Librarian (Full-time)
    Goldey-Beacom College is seeking a motivated candidate to join the Library staff of the Hirons Library and Learning Center at the College. Strong interpersonal skills are essential. The successful candidate will be a strong advocate for students.
    Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Library, Learning Center and Archives, the Technical Services Librarian oversees the functions of the library facility, provides direction of the information literacy assessment (ILA) program by designing and delivering the ILA program following best practices of instructional design, shares in the assessment duties, and catalogs monographs and archival materials.

    Education/Experience:
    Candidates for this position must possess a master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution. 1-3 years of experience in an academic library or a research-related setting working in instructional design (creating instructional design / training materials as well as presenting these materials in face-to-face and online training environments) is required. Online work samples of past instructional work must be submitted with the application in order to be considered for an interview.
    Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
    Excellent computer and communication skills, including excellent writing skills and Microsoft Excel, are required as well as a strong background in customer service.
    Physical Requirements:
    The candidate must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds
    Essential Functions:
    • Overseeing the functioning of the library facility (which may include opening and closing the HLLC) & maintaining staff and student worker schedule.
    • Working collaboratively with library staff members and communicating effectively with daytime staff as necessary.
    • Participating in physical and virtual research education services, including research support desk, in-person and by appointment consultations, LibGuides, LibAnswers, online chat, email, text, and phone.
    • Managing library projects using project management software.
    • Leading the design, creation, maintenance, and assessment of online tutorials, instruction sessions, workshops, and presentations to promote general and course-specific research competencies.
    • Developing best practices for the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of a broad range of digital teaching and learning objects.
    • Designing, developing, and delivering effective and inclusive onboarding modules for HLLC employees including staff and student workers.
    • Designing, developing, and delivering effective and inclusive online instructional plans and resources, using accessibility guidelines and principles, best practices in inclusive and equitable pedagogy, and relevant library and higher education standards.
    • Taking an active role in developing and supporting the library’s student success initiatives, particularly within the context of addressing barriers that limit access to library services, collections, programs, and spaces.
    • Assisting with cataloging and metadata creation for archival collections.
    • Compiling and analyzing data for statistical reports for the Library and Learning Center, such as the institutional assessment report, Information Literacy Assessment program, and IPEDS using software packages such as Excel. This includes any ad hoc data requests from administrators or specific departments.
    • Cataloging materials using Koha.
    • Managing Interlibrary loan.
    • Maintain virtual reference desk in the evening and weekends.

    Hours per Week: 40
    The schedule is the following: Tuesday – Saturday, Wed/Thurs –11- 8, Friday 8:30 to 5, Saturday 8:30 to 5.
    Important Note: Flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed is a requirement of the position.
