The Easton Area Public Library is seeking an energetic, service-oriented, and well-organized individual for the position of Coordinator of Technical Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Technical Services Department.
General duties include but not limited to:
• Updates and maintains records for electronic holdings
• Ordering periodicals, handling accounts with vendors, and maintaining periodical records
• Creates original MARC cataloging records when needed
• Downloads and imports cataloging records from OCLC
• Selects sources of copy cataloging and oversees procedures for downloading and overlaying
• Represents the Library in the larger library community by participating in SPARK committees, the Evergreen community, and other groups.
• Serves as the primary liaison between EAPL and PAILS for SPARK-related issues, not just limited to cataloging concerns.
Education and Special Skills:
• Masters Degree in Library Science
• Commitment to providing the library patron with an accurate and easy to use bibliographic database. Experience with ILS cataloging modules.
• Strong technology skills and a high level of mental attention and concentration to work on procedures.
• Familiarity with the Dewey Decimal classification, Library of Congress subject headings, and OCLC highly desirable.
The Easton Area Public Library is located in downtown Easton, PA. EAPL serves a diverse community of 60,000 residents and is committed to providing equitable and inclusive services.
Compensation: Starting salary range $45,000 – $55,000 DOQ. Excellent benefits and 401k retirement plan. Evenings and Saturday hours may be required at the Reference Desk.
All library positions require a PA state criminal background check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and a FBI fingerprint-based criminal history background check.
