    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Reference Archives ETD Librarian is responsible for all functions of reference service, archives, and electronic theses and dissertations collection with a high degree of autonomy.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Provides reference and research assistance service in person, by chat, email, and phone.
    Teaches information literacy sessions and topical workshops in person and online.
    Prepares, maintains, and updates information literacy materials.
    Determines best practices for ETD submission and approval, develops and documents procedures, and coordinates workflows.
    Provides in person, face to face, online, and workshop-based instruction for graduate authors regarding citation management and copyright (fair use, licensing, etc.).
    Collects and organizes necessary files for ETD processing and ensures adherence to author-determined embargoes.
    Checks and approves all ETD submissions, corresponding with submitters as necessary to ensure completeness and correctness.
    Assesses the archival value of materials.
    Processes archival materials to include sorting, boxing, labeling, inventorying and describing materials.
    Updates archives finding aid, markets & publicizes collection.
    Maintains professional currency in archives and repository management.
    Designs, plans, and develops workflows for digitization projects.
    Responsible for image editing, optical character recognition (OCR) processing, quality control measures, metadata creation, and loading of files to CONTENTdm.
    Develops and updates operating procedures for collections within CONTENTdm.
    Assists with grant writing.
    Participates in assessment activities.
    Participates in collection development and weeding, departmental liaison activities, and copyright compliance.
    Participates in professional organizations as appropriate.
    Performs other duties as required.
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Knowledge of library operating procedures and comprehension of the educational process.
    Demonstrated knowledge of archival standards and best practices.
    Familiarity with metadata and digital collections.
    Working knowledge of rights management and academic publishing practices.
    Teaching experience.
    Ability to employ professional skills and imagination in creating and implementing assignments.
    Ability to work effectively and flexibly in group settings of varied composition.
    WORK SCHEDULE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Thirty-five hours per week including regularly scheduled evening and weekend shifts.
    Physical strength and mobility appropriate to retrieve and shelve materials as high as 84”, and to handle materials and equipment to a maximum of 20 pounds
    Ability to use telephone, computer work stations and office equipment such as photocopiers, computer printers, barcode scanners, etc.
