    Under the direction of the Head of Arts, Humanities, and Media, the Performing Arts Librarian provides general reference and specialized research consultations in person and virtually, by appointment and upon request. The Librarian supports the students, faculty, and staff of The Boyer College of Music and Dance and the Department of Theater.

    The Librarian develops print and web based instructional materials and counsels faculty in developing effective information literacy assignments and activities. To encourage engagement with the library, the librarian conducts outreach and promotion to the faculty in their assigned liaison areas and with the wider campus community through committee participation, attendance at collegial meetings and events, and email. Provides library instruction to students in their area of responsibility as well as for undergraduates in the general education curriculum.
    Develops and manages electronic and print collections in assigned subject areas. Works closely with performing arts faculty and students and members of Temple University Libraries’ Outreach and Communications team to coordinate performing arts events throughout the fall and spring semesters. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Education and Experience:
    ALA accredited MLS and three years’ experience as a Music Librarian.

    Required Skills and Abilities:
    Demonstrated ability to provide research assistance and instructional services. Current awareness of issues and trends in public services for academic libraries.
    Demonstrated experience with Springshare products (e.g., LibAnswer and LibChat, LibCal, LibGuides).
    Knowledge of traditional and contemporary performing arts, especially music, dance, and theater.
    Familiarity with publishing trends and issues in the performing arts.
    Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    Commitment to providing responsive and innovative services to a culturally and racially diverse campus.

    Preferred:
    Advanced degree in Music, Musicology, or related field
    Experience with ordering music scores in a library context.
    Experience with event planning.
    Basic knowledge of pedagogy, learning science or other evidence of training in the preparation and delivery of instruction.
    Basic understanding of systematic reviews as applied to Music Therapy, Music Education and/or related disciplines.
    Familiarity with software for creating instructional videos and tutorials.
