Job Listing: Library Director

The Fleetwood Area Public Library (FAPL), in Fleetwood PA, is seeking a creative and motivated individual to serve as the new Library Director. Our mission is to provide equal access to quality resources and technology, encouraging an early and lifelong commitment to learning, and strengthening our community by providing and connecting patrons to quality programs and services. FAPL serves approximately 17,000 people within Fleetwood Borough, Richmond Township and Maidencreek Township. The library is part of the Reading Library District and a member of the Berks County Public Library System.

Education & Experience Requirements:
Has at least a bachelor’s degree from a 4 year college or university and has completed at least 12 credit hours of courses in Library Science (or working toward this end) at an institution both approved by the appropriate Commonwealth agency or accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools or equivalent accrediting agency.

Prior public library experience and supervisory experience is preferred, or any combination of experience and training that provides a demonstrated potential for performing the duties of the position.

PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Background check are required before employment. Applicants must have reliable transportation and valid Drivers License.

The Library Director position would require work on the premises at least 20 hours weekly during the hours that the library is open to serve the public. Additional hours may be required for administrative duties totaling 30-36 hours total per week. The position has a starting salary of $18/hour, with consideration given to the candidate’s prior experience and educational background.
