Student Success and Outreach Librarian
SUMMARY
The Student Success and Outreach Librarian will lead the development of the comprehensive information literacy initiative in support of the University’s diverse learning community. The Student success Librarian will design and maintain accessible learning materials in support of an information literacy and library instruction initiative, create and implement an assessment initiative, perform regular instruction assessment and collaborate with library colleagues and campus partners to ensure the library instruction program supports student success.
- Plans, develops, and implements information library information literacy initiative offering guidance and consultation to colleagues and faculty
- Designs and maintains learning materials and tools, including but not limited to the Springshare suite of products, supportive of the information literacy initiative; collaborates with Scott Memorial Library librarians to streamline and maintain learning materials.
- Act as East Falls campus coordinator of Springshare products including developing workflow and service standard procedures for Springshare site content; apps/platform includes Libanswers/chat, FAQ, libguides for Jefferson Libraries.
- Create and implement library instruction assessment program; performs assessment in collaboration with colleagues regularly
- Participates in the library’s liaison program as the Business and Engineering Liaison or other assigned liaison area.
- Act as liaison with campus partners (e.g. writing Center, Office of Faculty Development, etc.,) to ensure the library instruction program supports student success. Foster partnerships with these and other University programs.
- Promote library programing and workshops on the East Falls campus; develop programing in collaboration (with other EF departments for) to increase awareness of library resources and services.
- Develop innovative and engaging, evidence based, library programs and workshops for faculty, students, and staff.
- Participate in reference services, including library consultations; perform collection development duties within their assigned liaison area.
- Promotes and encourages Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the workplace and throughout University Community.
- Some weekends
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of academic library experience as a subject specialist or liaison librarian
- Experience with Springshare Suite of products (e.g. LibAnswers/Chat, FAQ, LibGuides, etc.) preferred.
- 2-4 years’ experience with library instruction and assessment preferred
- Library Reference and Consultation Experience
- Excellent patron service skills;
- Excellent communication skills both writing and verbal
- Ability to plan, manage, and oversee multiple projects, meet deadlines and prioritize work projects in alignment with library and university strategic goals, mission, and vision. Self-starter and motivator.
- Project management, organizational, and collaboration skills
- Strong decision-making skills
- Familiarity with Alma Integrated Library System (ILS) recommended
Educational Requirement:
- MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited school required;
- Bachelors in business preferred; or other Social Science or Humanities Studies area
