Collection Management Librarian
SUMMARY
The Collection Management Librarian supports the mission of the college by providing both physical and intellectual stewardship of the Library’s collections and related resources, including the College Archives. This position has Faculty status, with no rank or tenure.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE*
Library Collections
- Process and catalog new resources, both print and electronic.
- Plan, implement, and assess a collection development program in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Regularly analyze and evaluate Library collections and resources and make acquisition/deselection recommendations to the Executive Director.
- Maintain the integrity of collection metadata; employ the routine assistance of other staff and student workers in this task.
- Ensure the proper physical storage, organization, accessibility, and preservation of collection materials and resources.
- Collaborate with other librarians, faculty, and staff to highlight and publicize library collections.
College Archives
- Establish and implement policies for the appraisal, accession, and disposition of College records.
- Manage the processing, arranging, and description of archival materials as well as the production and publication of finding aids.
- Develop strategic plan and both long- and short-term goals for the College Archives in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Monitor storage conditions and maintain proper storage environments and housing for archival materials in accordance with preservation best practices.
- Develop and maintain the College Archives’ website and related digital tools (JSTOR Forum, ArchivesSpace, etc.)
- Create exhibits and publications, both physical and virtual, based on archival materials.
- Collaborate regularly with the Archives of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus.
- Develop projects for and manage student interns.
SHARED DUTIES
- Provide routine reports and assessment data to the Executive Director.
- Participate in Library strategic planning and major projects.
- Pursue regular professional development through library consortia, professional organizations, etc.
- Participate in daily reference rotation to provide research support both in-person and virtually.
- Provide information literacy instruction support both in-person and virtually.
- Oversee student workers and library spaces.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support a team-based approach to providing library services.
