Reporting to the Patron Services Supervisor, the Bibliographic Assistant I is responsible for supporting the everyday operations of the information services desk by performing a diverse and often complex array of materials management functions, customer support services, and statistics record keeping. The BA I opens the library and assists the Patron Services supervisor during the daytime in overseeing information desk operations, reviewing and monitoring on-site patron needs and behaviors. The BA I also assists with training and monitoring the performance of student workers, as needed. Provides front-line service to students, faculty and staff at a busy information desk. Answers directional and ready reference questions; assists patrons in using library equipment. Checks reserve materials in/out – including print materials, laptops and peripherals for the technology embedded in the study rooms, and anatomical models. Keeps stacks in call number order, conducts inventory, shelf-reading, and shifting of print collections as necessary. Assists with intra-library loan. Performs other duties as assigned.
The work schedule for this position is Tuesday – Saturday, daytime hours.

Required Education and Experience:
At least one year of experience in a library or related setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to follow instructions and perform detailed work.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Preferred:
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Familiarity with Alma (integrated library system).
Familiarity with LibCal and LibAnalytics software.
Experience working with students.
