Jill Borin Elected to PACSCL Board
In May, the Philadelphia Area Consortium for Special Collections Libraries (PACSCL), announced the election of new members to its Board of Directors. Among the five new directors is Jill Borin, a TCLC member from Widener University. Jill has worked at Widener for nearly 20 years as an Archivist and Research and Instruction Librarian. Currently, Jill is Head of Archives & Distinctive Collections.
Jill’s commitment to PACSCL stems from her values and work as an archivist as she explains in her candidate statement, “Throughout my career, I have focused on collaboration, accessibility, and diversity … using archival exhibits to uncover the marginalized groups that contributed to the University’s history and the history of Chester, Pennsylvania.” Elaborating, she states, “The Delaware Valley has such a rich collection of archival materials representing marginalized voices and I look forward to helping promote these collections as a PACSCL board member.”
This description encapsulates the same focus and enthusiasm Jill brings to her work with TCLC. Within TCLC, Jill recently served on the Program Committee contributing to the development of the 2021 TCLC Spring Program, “DEI in Academic Libraries: A Bridge to Inclusivity.” Jill organized and led the program’s panel discussion, “Uncovering Marginalized Voices: Stories of DEI from the Archive,” which included her own work at Widener with the George Raymond papers.
Jill’s service within the special collections and library communities is an inspiration to align our values with our work as is her commitment to the students and communities involved in these archives. Please join us in recognizing both Jill and Widener for their commitment to collaboration and participation in area organizations. It is through this mutual support and service that we grow together. Congratulations, Jill, on this exciting opportunity!
