Student Success Librarian

SUMMARY

The Student Success Librarian supports the mission of the college by implementing the Library’s information literacy program and conducting outreach and engagement to improve student learning, success, and retention and promote the Learning Commons as an inclusive, welcoming place. This position has Faculty Status, with no rank or tenure.

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE*

Information Literacy

  • Design, plan, and assess the Library’s information literacy program in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Serve as lead instruction librarian in providing library training sessions to classes, groups, and individuals, including as an Embedded Librarian in online course shells (Canvas).
  • Teach the interdisciplinary Library & Information Research Strategies course, offered once per academic year.
  • Manage, build, and maintain the Library’s Research Guides (LibGuides) and other custom tutorials on Canvas, YouTube, etc. in collaboration with other librarians.

Outreach & Engagement

  • Plan and implement creative, effective, and inclusive outreach initiatives for Rosemont College students in collaboration with other staff/librarians.
  • Engage with faculty to promote the integration of library resources in their teaching & scholarship.
  • Develop innovative plans and programs to promote equitable access to library resources, including specific engagement of students from diverse and under-represented backgrounds.
  • Promote use of Open Access, OER, and ILL alongside other cost-saving resources.
  • Coordinate with the Student Academic Success Center, the Office of Post-Graduate Success, and other College units to develop and improve comprehensive student support programs.
  • Manage Library social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and blog.

SHARED DUTIES

  • Participate in collection development and maintenance.
  • Provide routine reports and assessment data to the Executive Director.
  • Participate in Library strategic planning and major projects.
  • Pursue regular professional development through library consortia, professional organizations, etc.
  • Participate in daily reference rotation to provide research support both in-person and virtually.
  • Oversee student workers, interns, and library spaces.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support a team-based approach to providing library services.
